Detroit Fly-Over
The project is part of an open competition submission sponsored by Rock Venture, in envisioning a future for the once iconic J.L. Hudson’s department store on Woodward Avenue downtown Detroit. Demolished 15 years ago, the 25-story tower left a physical and symbolic gap in the city’s urban fabric that the competition asked its entrants to repair.
The shortlisted scheme elevates the site physically and metaphorically by introducing different art and community-based programs into the site as an effort to introduce density back into the city.
