DWR Edina

Nestled in the northeast wing in the Galleria Mall, Edina – the new DWR store breaks away from the existing exterior masonry construction by layering glass storefront and perforated metal rain screen system to fulfill the required energy code whilst maintaining the openness factor of the retail store.

The new and layered façade creates depth and showcases the store within it’s branding image and materiality. At the interior, locally sourced material such as the bleached oak undulating ceiling are introduced to draw reference to its context and vernacular scale. The project was conceived during Chai Chen's time at DFA.
