C-eDO is a multidisciplinary design office that practices in the field of architecture, construction, planning and new media. The New York City based firm is founded by its principal, Chai Chen in 2018 after having practiced architecture extensively in both New York and London for 20 years. Chai Chen’s past work experiences include renowned architectural firms such as Asymptote (ASY), D-form-A (DFA), and CJCT Studio (formerly Carey Jones Architects London).
During his time with these firms, Chai Chen completed and published extensive notable work including Asymptote’s 166 Perry Street, New York and WBC Solomon Tower, Busan (unbuilt); DFA’s Design Within Reach nationwide retail store roll out and Central Park Tower, New York (unbuilt.) Chai Chen’s personal work in both Redesigning Detroit Competition and Red Hook Bicycle Master Planning Competition were finalist schemes and shortlisted for publication respectively.
C-eDO intersects with different field and professional. As Architects, we obligate ourselves as cultural and environmental facilitators. As Builders, we find design solution that weighs and applies the practicality of new technology and economic models. As Environmentalist, we hold ourselves accountable in relating social and environmental issues as part of our design solution. As Collaborators, we congregate, listen and research ideas from our team and Clients.
